GIBBSTOWN, NJ, October 6, 2005: EMD Chemicals Inc. (EMD) announced today that they, along with EMD Biosciences Inc, and Nitragin, all affiliates of Merck KGaA Darmstadt, Germany, are donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross to support relief and recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. “Our thoughts and prayers are with so many Americans in the Gulf Coast region who have lost their loved ones, homes and livelihoods due to the devastation of these hurricanes.” comments Douglas S. Brown, EMD President and CEO . “Our companies provide products that enhance the way people feel, look and live and we hope too, that this donation will help to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by this disaster.”
The three companies also conducted an employee matching contribution campaign during the month of the September raising over $41,000. Staff donated to a charity of their choice with a corporate match for each donation up to $1,000 per employee forwarded to the American Red Cross.
