First edition of a design and trend book from Merck and partners

The “DesignVisionBook” is no ordinary book. Merck and a group of partners put forth their know-how to produce a book that not only reflects the signs of the times, but also offers a peek at tomorrow’s society – with its colors and materials. The reader/viewer is guided through four themes which are illustrated on stylishly designed pages. The pages themselves as well as the accompanying demonstration samples are enriched with Merck effect pigments.

Tomorrow’s colors and materials
The theme “One World + Worlds Apart” illuminates networking, globalization and localization, not only in relation to products, but also regarding cultural heritage and culturally-defined habits. “Lower Class + Upper Class” talks about new forms and colors in terms of luxury, polarization and society. “Mankind + Ecology” follows the increasingly important “green” trend. It clarifies that sustainability is more than just using natural materials; it uses the inspiration from nature and applies the most nature- and user-friendly methods in production and usage. “Noise + Silence” deals with the range of topics of our love/hate relationship with technology, the hectic life as well as the trend toward Zen and relaxation techniques, rhythm and abundance of color, light and information.

For each of the themes, a coating collection made up of six colors with effect pigments is introduced which shows the vision of the project participants and how future trends can be translated into innovative color emotions. The quality and variety of the samples – from leather coating to injection molded polyproylene – are a result of the successful cooperation of the participating companies: Alcan Composites, Gabriel Chemie, Mode…Information, Rose Chemie, Silfox Group-Lechte Medien and Silfox Group-Multicolor from Germany; Crea Printing from Belgium; James Robinson from the United Kingdom; Stahl Europe from The Netherlands; San Fang Leather Corp. from Taiwan; and  Sonite Mosaics from Thailand.
